Dual Thermal for DJI Matrice Series: FLIR Introduces Vue TZ20

dual thermal for dji matricesDJI Airworks 2020‘s opening keynote address this morning was titled “Innovation Through Change:” and FLIR’s Randall Warnas was there to present FLIR System’s latest: the Vue TZ20 Dual Thermal Camera Drone Payload, dual thermal for DJI Matrice Series drones.

“Plug-and-Play Gimbal System for the DJI Matrice 200 Series and Matrice 300 Offers High-Definition FLIR Thermal Imaging with Zoom Capabilities to Improve Situational Awareness,” says FLIR release.

The FLIR Vue® TZ20 is “the first high resolution, dual thermal sensor gimbal purpose-built for the DJI®Matrice 200 Series and Matrice 300 airframes,” says FLIR.

“With the FLIR Vue TZ20, FLIR Systems is introducing our first dual thermal gimbaled payload for the DJI Matrice 200 Series and Matrice 300 airframes,” said Paul Clayton, General Manager, Components Business at FLIR Systems. “Now public safety drone pilots from police, fire, and search and rescue teams, to industrial and critical infrastructure inspectors, will have greater awareness to complete their missions.”

With the FLIR Vue TZ 20 Dual Thermal for DJI Matrice Series drones, says Warnas, “There’s no tradeoff.”

“Unlike digital zoom, TZ 20 provides continuous zoom – improved size and lower weight to keep drone flying longer.  The Vue TZ operates on the DJI Pilot App: so there’s no need to download another,” Warnas says.

Boson Views“IP44 rated to provide operability in poor weather conditions and weighing just 640 grams (1.4 lbs.) in total, the Vue TZ20 includes a wide-angle Boson with a 95-degree field of view and a narrow-angle Boson with a 19-degree field of view, enabling pilots to put more pixels on target with ease,” says the FLIR release.

Warnas is the Global sUAS Segment Leader for FLIR, the global leader in thermal imaging.  DJI and FLIR have had an industry leading collaboration, providing integrated solutions for public safety and enterprise customers.  The Vue TZ 20 was developed with DJI’s Payload Software Development Kit. Payload functions include thermal video streaming, video recording, and still-image capture with 20-times zoom, enabling operators to conduct missions at safe distances while capturing the thermal data and detail required.

“Through collaboration, so much is possible,” says Warnas.
