peRISKop, the system consists of only three light components fully compatible with the MOLLE/PALS military attachment standard. The fold-up chest console, the shoulder radio pack and the mini hand-held controller are all integrated closely to your body with minimal high flex cabling, without interfering with your field activity.

Since it works perfectly with all heavy plate carriers, light vests and even simple chest harnesses, it provides an effective wearable solution for all industrial, search & rescue, law enforcement and military applications, where your hands are normally full of the tools of your trade. It only adds a total weight of less than 1400g to your equipment, yet it provides all the functionality you would normally expect from a desk-mount mission control station.

There’s no more cumbersome unpacking and field assembly, just fold out the tablet on your chest rig, and you’re ready to go. Even the waterproof connection system is designed for safety through simplicity.

The shoulder-mounted IP data-link is only activated when it’s connected to the chest rig for easy power control, and the single cable is simply threaded through any PALS webbing.

The miniature hand-held controller is equipped with dual hand sensors that can switch your UAV to pre-programmed safety modes like RTL, loiter or sniper evasion if you have to drop it to reach for your weapon, tools or just a safe handhold. All connectors are also equipped with push-pull locks, so there’s no accidental disconnect even in the weirdest of body postures during the craziest action.

We’ve tested the entire set on dozens of different body sizes, MOLLE/PALS compatible vests, chest harnesses and even backpacks to see if we’ve missed something, but it works every time. We can also fit the tablet mount between the padded shoulder straps of even non-military specific backpacks without an additional chest harness, and it works as a piggy-back on top of an admin pack just as well. We’ve also thought about applications where a front zip on a light load-bearing vest would normally interfere
with a chest pack, so we’ve created a two-piece adapter plate to allow such split mounting options.

While the original idea was to provide a dismounted soldier with a light sUAS control and communication set, all industrial, S&R and law enforcement applications can make good use of a wearable comms peRISKop and data collection pack. If you work mobile or outdoors, carry other gear and you need quick access to remote control or data comms frequently, then this is truly the user-friendly way to do it.

The core of the system is an IP68 grade industrial tablet, the Tab Active2 from Samsung. Since it is already extremely well protected against the elements, we don’t need to encase the unit more than it is already. Our unique docking mechanism and the embedded custom electronics make sure that all wired network and peripheral connections are seamlessly integrated, and all are at least at IP67 levels. Although the set can run 8-10 hours continuously from its own internal batteries, you can both charge or permanently power the entire system through a single connector, and you can also use standard body packs or a conformal wearable battery to extend your battery endurance.

You can also reverse the tablet mount on the MOLLE/PALS adapter plate, which in turn will become a stable monitor stand for alternative applications. Placing it on a field desk or using it on the ground in a prone position behind cover makes this set truly universal across all possible applications. The optional miniature military keyboard can even turn it into the perfect field data terminal.

Since the body cable between the radio and the tablet can be extended to several meters, the operator can also be travelling inside a vehicle while the RF section is sitting on the roof in the clear. Further operator-antenna separation is possible up to a 100m with a simple field cable, so you can still extend your radio range by using a mast or other elevated RF vantage point.

Notes on hybrid UAV control system conversion to transparent IP links

While your current UAV system may still use two or three separate RF connections with different technologies between the vehicle and the ground control station, this all comes from legacy reasons and the early RC FPV roots of most sUAS systems.

As RC was a given ecosystem at the time, telemetry required a cheap serial modem, and video downlink needed another cheap video transmitter, both as add-ons.

Though it is a fairly cheap solution requiring minimal integration, three mixed RF links on different bands and for three overlapping functions are creating a mess.

You need one transparent IP RF link, and you can run everything through it easy. It’s also cheaper both on board and in the station, and all communications can be industry-standard then.

Both vehicle control and sensor data can go through the very same single IP pipeline. Then, if you need safety redundancy, you can switch between p2p, 4G/LTE or even sat-link all the functions at once, so you don’t lose functionality based on what connections are still alive.

You can also use our failover system, so where 4G/LTE is available, it can actually switch overall functions automatically. One of the added benefits of using our RF link failover is the crucial added level of security of using high-level end-to-end encryption, which is independent of the original capabilities of your chosen RF modules. Once you use a single transparent IP LAN style pipeline for everything, there are tons of possibilities for compatible RF communication modules, even sat-link for larger vehicles.
